What is an Upgrade Item in Genshin Impact?

Upgrade items are unique items that assist certain Pokemon develop. They can be obtained by spinning Pokestop discs, or as rewards for events that are related to evolution.

They can be added to trinkets, armors, weapons and gathering tools to increase effects or stats. Certain upgrades also come with an extra cosmetic effect when they are used.

Upgrade components

Upgrade components can be incorporated into trinkets, armors, and weapons to provide a bonus effect or a special feature when the equipment is being used. They can be purchased from vendors, looted, or acquired as rewards. They can also be made dropped, made, or obtained through crafting. Upgrade components must be of a higher quality than the item they're being added to, and they also require that the item be equipped with an upgrade slot to accept them. Upgrade components can be substituted with other upgrade components, with the exception for inscriptions and glyphs, which are only able to be removed or added freely.

Gems, infusions, and enrichments are the most frequently used upgrade components. Gems can be added to any type of equipment and offer less benefit than other upgrade components. Infusions and enrichments are specific upgrade components that can only be added to ascended gear that is not an ampulet as well as some legendary equipment. They can be salvaged from the equipment they are within by using an Upgrade Extraction Device, or by salvaging them using the Black Lion Salvage Kit or Ascended Salvage Tool.

Other upgrade items, like glyphs and inscriptions, can be added to or removed from gathering tools. They can offer a variety of bonus effects that can be used to increase the speed of gathering or adding additional materials. Inscriptions can also modify the name of an item, for instance changing a sword to be called 'Fiery Sword' by adding an Sword Pommel Of Fortitude inscription, or by adding a Rune of Minor Vigor suffix to make it 'Canthan Armor Of Minor Vigor'.

Glyphs

Glyphs symbolize a concept or idea through character symbols. A glyph can be an icon or a drawing such as a flag or heart. These symbols can also be used to create an entire visual language. Additionally, a glyph may have a standard code that is used to identify it across fonts. This code is called Unicode. Unicode.

A glyph's shape dictates to which Primary Stats and Secondary Stats can be added. Some glyphs include both Primary and Secondary Stats bonuses some only have one bonus. The glyphs with both Primary and Secondary Stats add to the total stats of the unit while glyphs with only a single Primary Stat bonus will multiply the values of that stat.

Using glyphs is very easy. Press and hold the text insertion point to open the Glyphs panel, then choose one of the glyphs to insert. View All Glyphs lets you see the complete list of glyphs. The glyphs will be displayed in the order of their Unicode code, and you can select the one that you want to add by clicking it.

When you create a new glyph set, it is saved along with other InDesign preferences in the form of a file that is shared. The glyphs are not tied to any particular document. However, you can edit them by choosing Edit Glyph Set from the Glyphs panel menu. You can also decide if the glyphs will be remembered by their fonts when you insert them into text.

Rare glyphs are crucial for your build, and you should start farming them as soon as possible. They drop frequently in World Tier 3 dungeons, Nightmare Dungeons, Helltides, and other endgame content. They are more accessible than the rare shards that you can earn by crafting items, and provide an upgrade to your equipment. They can also be applied to a variety of items, allowing you to increase the damage and defense of your gear without spending a lot of shards.
