Guild Wars 2 Item Upgrade
The stats of an item are improved by upgrading it, also known as "upping". Each upgrade increment increases the stat linearly.
Players can recycle up to six items at once to gain an indicator of the level of the item's upgraded components. The cost of recycling an item scales with its rarity and level.
Upgrade components
In Guild Wars 2, an item upgrade is a way to increase the stats of your armor and weapons. This can be accomplished through a variety of methods such as using upgrade components or increasing an item's rarity or mark level. Many items can also be reforged in order to increase their stats.
Upgradeable items are available throughout the game, both around the world and as rewards for missions. Players can also craft them. The most common method of upgrading gear is through the use of upgrade components which are items that can be slotted into equipment. The majority of equipment comes with slots for upgrading and some require a certain level of upgrade. Certain upgrade components provide specific bonuses while others provide general bonuses.
There are many types of upgrade components that are available in the game. These include universal upgrades, inscriptions, and jewels. Universal upgrades, like gemstones and enchantments, can be put in any type of equipment and offer fewer bonuses than those that are equipment-type specific to the type of equipment. Glyphs are only available in gathering tools. They provide a variety bonuses, ranging from boosting the speed at which an item gathers to supplying additional crafting materials.

To upgrade an item, click it from your inventory and open the Upgrade window. This will display a preview on the right side of the screen showing the expected stats after the upgrade, and any necessary components or materials. If you don't possess enough of either, the Upgrade button will say Blocked.
The number of upgrade components required for a specific item is displayed in the upper-right corner of the window for upgrading. The cost of upgrading increases with the level and rarity of the item increases. However you can cut down on this cost by purchasing upgrades from a merchant or trading them with other players.
Nearly all weapons can be upgraded with the use of a prefix upgrade like an insignia or rune, and a lot of them can be upgraded with suffix upgrades. These upgrades add an adjective to the item's name for example "Radiant" or "Minor Vigor".
More hints can be a powerful tool to communicate visual information. They move to draw the attention of the viewer and spark curiosity. The animation of glyphs mimics body language, making them more effective in communicating a message across linguistic barriers. Glyphs can also enhance the likelihood of remembering messages by creating an emotional connection in the brain.
Each glyph can increase the value of a stat by certain range. This is clearly displayed on the item when you open it in the Glyph Storage. This isn't the exact amount at the glyph can increase the stat, but rather the maximum value by which it can do so. The value of the glyph depends on the tier as well as the quality of the item you are enchanting.
Most upgrade components slotted into items can't be replaced or salvaged without dismantling the gear in question, unless it is legendary equipment and upgrades. If you have a glyph or rune you don't want to use but it hasn't been incorporated to gear yet, you can transfer the item to another piece by selecting the Upgrade Glyphs menu in the Glyphs Panel. This will create a new Glyph Set with the selected glyph.
If you wish to remove a glyph from an item then you'll need to salvage it using an Black Lion Salvage Kit or Ascended Salvage Tool. This will destroy the item within which it is placed however, you can salvage the upgraded item using the glyph and its fragments, therefore, it shouldn't be considered a loss.
The addition of a glyph to an item can cause it to be unstable, and the shards of that glyph will disappear from your inventory once you remove the item. You can also place an inscription to your equipment to increase its value. Deferred Damage, for example can store damage, and then be dealt out slowly to the wearer rather than all at once. This is helpful for those who take lots of damage from their enemies, but do not want to be overwhelmed.
Reroll tokens
Reroll tokens let players alter the affixes on their weapons and equipment, and can be found in a variety of ways such as in mistery boxes or as an uncommon drop from skulled creatures, or even from killing bosses. Every reroll grants the player an affix randomly chosen and usually better than what they had prior to. Reroll tokens can also be used to improve weapon stats to cause more damage or bonuses.
Rerolled items are not listed on the menu for item upgrades, but they can still be upgraded. If you click the "upgrade button" you can recycle these rerolled items. This will alter the design of the item's window and let up to six items to be chosen for recycling. The level gauge is increased by recycling an item. The amount is determined by the rarity of the item and its level, which means higher-level items are more valuable to recycle than lower-level ones.
In addition to tokens for rerolls, players can use Star Remnants and Reroll Tokens to reroll the weapon traits of an upgraded unit. A reroll will roll the % chance of a weapon trait. If it rolls higher, the weapon will be upgraded, and if it rolls lower, it remains unchanged. Weapons can be upgraded up to three times.
Rerolling is a fantastic way to upgrade an item. However, players must be aware of the fact that the total ilvl will be decreased by the number of the rerolls required to bring it to the final level. This effect is most noticeable on Rings and Diadems since they have no other options to raise the ilvl.
The Reroll system has been criticized by players as being too expensive, and it would be more reasonable to let players pay for it with money or food items that allows players to alter their build without a lot of time and effort. However paying for rerolls is not something the developers are planning to implement at this time in the game's development. They are planning to add an ingredient that allows players to change their race in the future.
Leveling
There are several ways to upgrade an item. The first is to increase the upgrade amount which boosts the value of an upgrade for the stat. The second option is to boost the effect of an upgrade, which increases damage or healing for a stat. The base item can be upgraded to an advanced upgrade type. When this is done the new item will maintain its iLevel, but will be upgraded with the effects of the upgraded item type.
When upgrading your items, it is important to remember that upgrades are random. In the majority of cases the best roll will result from glyphs, however there are also chances for higher or more special rolls. The type of item will determine the iLevel. If you upgrade a rare or exclusive item to a special item type, it has a chance of getting an upper level.
upgrade item can be expensive Particularly if you're upgrading your equipment from the standard track to the legendary. The cost of upgrading an item will depend on the iLevel it's built upon and the number of levels to upgrade. Additionally, certain upgrade tracks require crests to get to the next upgrade level.
If you're lucky the upgraded item could reach the maximum level on its upgrade track, and thus unlock an additional effect. This will increase the item's upgrade value. The bonus effect changes with each upgrade level. In general, the effect of upgrading is increased by +3.
The iLevel will also change depending on the item's upgrade path and base level. For example an item upgraded from a rare or exclusive item to an extraordinary one can be expected to gain the Enhanced Defense of the new base item.
